Rita Bland

Office Administrator

rita@gwcarter.com

Rita Bland started at GW Carter in January 2016, when the then-administrator realized she needed help during the tax season. Her responsibilities then, as they are now, included setting up projects after the client accepts their quote, emailing the retainer invoices, creating and sending tax organizers (once the retainer is paid), sending Form 5472 templates in an email, sending final balance invoices once the tax returns are completed and ready to be filed. Additionally, Rita notifies the accountant when the invoice is paid so the filing can be completed and then closes out the project once the payment has been received and the filing is complete. Occasionally, certain tax returns cannot be e-filed and must be mailed, so she prepares those returns for mailing by priority mail through the U.S. Postal Service.

Rita also responds to clients' emails and answers the various questions clients may have through their tax filing process. Many email inquiries are directly related to the client's tax documents, so, she directs those questions to their designated tax preparer.

Rita was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, and attended local private schools up through high school, graduating from Derham Hall High School (now Cretin-Derham Hall). She then attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN for two years, transferred, and studied for one year at Hamline University in St. Paul, however, ended up graduating from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Criminal Justice. Rita passionately served the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years, before retiring in January of 2014.

Some activities Rita enjoys in her free time are going to lunch or dinner with friends or family members, getting together monthly with 7 of her dearest high school friends, and going to the movie theater with a friend. About a couple times per year, she tries to get out to Las Vegas to visit her daughter.
