Yilian graduated from the College of Saint Benedict in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting (CPA track). During her time in college, she interned as an auditor at Shanghai Accounting Firm and as a banker at the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China. In 2014, she first interned at GW Carter, where she made an excellent impression. In June 2015, she accepted a permanent role at the firm, gaining extensive knowledge of taxation related to passive foreign investment companies (PFICs) and foreign trusts.

Yilian prepares tax returns specializing in international forms such as Forms 8938, 3520, 3520-A, 8621, 5471, and the FBAR. Additionally, she aids in delinquent FBAR procedures and Streamlined Filing procedures. Her goal is to help clients to avoid or minimize potentially substantial penalties and establish a robust and compliant tax situation. Her meticulous attention to detail and calm demeanor make her an invaluable asset to both the firm and her clients.

Her enduring passion for tax and accounting led her to become a CPA and an Enrolled Agent. What she enjoys most about her job is helping clients, particularly those involved in multiple tax jurisdictions, navigate the complex landscape of tax compliance and preparing their tax returns. She finds solving problems rewarding and providing valuable insights, especially when understanding and complying with complicated tax and international form requirements.

Yilian is fluent in Mandarin, the Sichuan (Szechuan) dialect, and English. She enjoys playing the piano and traveling outside of work. Whether exploring new destinations or immersing herself in music, she values balancing her professional responsibilities and activities that bring her joy and relaxation.
